How did your career path evolve?
I originally wanted to pursue archaeology, but I didn’t meet the university requirements. I thought about returning as a mature student but instead pivoted into Human Resources. I’ve always been fascinated by people and processes, which ultimately led me to HSE. That’s where I found my calling. My early career included roles in retail, manufacturing and education.
I experienced rapid professional growth early on, followed by a period of burnout. Taking a break helped me reset and refocus on what mattered—building a career aligned with my passion for HSE. That journey led me to ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥, where I've found a fulfilling and sustainable path.
What does your current role cover?
I lead our HSE teams across the Middle East, helping them remain agile and ready for growth in this fast-changing region while delivering unparalleled client outcomes. By staying ahead of market and technology trends, we aim to be the trusted HSE team of choice, known for proactive leadership and a client-centric mindset. We work closely with clients and contractors to embed a culture of excellence, by always doing things right and challenging the accepted.
What has been a key highlight of your career?
Directing the safety strategy for several major rail upgrade programs has been a key highlight. One achievement I’m especially proud of is leading the design and rollout of a rail safety worker competency process. This involved working across joint ventures and subcontractors to evaluate qualifications, conduct behavioral interviews and ensure compliance with stringent rail regulations. My certification as an assessor led to further opportunities with other rail operators and asset owners.
How is technology and data transforming health and safety in major programs?
We’re seeing a major shift from reactive safety measures to predictive, data-enabled strategies that offer real-time insight and control. This is especially critical on large-scale, fast-paced programs like those in the Middle East, where complexity and expectations are high.
At ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥, we use digital tools to manage risk in smarter ways—integrating (IoT) sensors, automated analytics and AI-enabled compliance tools across project sites. These technologies help identify risks early, improve responsiveness and maintain the highest safety standards, all while supporting ambitious delivery goals.
How does this help clients deliver complex programs safely and efficiently?
On high-profile programs involving multiple contractors, delivered at pace and scale, clear and confident decision-making is essential. Our One ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ model combines global digital capabilities with deep regional experience to help clients deliver more safely and with greater certainty. From day one, we embed digital tools like real-time dashboards, mobile field reporting and AI-driven documentation. These tools support smarter planning, better sequencing and tighter control.
We work to embed a data-led safety culture across every layer of delivery—empowering frontline teams to act on insights and drive outcomes beyond traditional monitoring.
What accomplishments are you most proud of?
Mentoring. I’ve dedicated much of my career to supporting people entering or growing in the HSE field. Over the past 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of watching many of them develop into strong professionals. It’s deeply rewarding to help shape the next generation of HSE leaders—people who make a real difference by ensuring everyone gets home safely.
